Grading & Withdrawal Policy

Grading & Withdrawal Policy – FAQ

Will the withdrawals count towards my withdrawal limit?

Spring 2020 – Withdrawals taken after the change to remote learning (post spring break, 3/9/2020) do not count towards the limit. Prior to spring break, they do count towards the limit.

Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021 – Withdrawals taken during these semesters do not count towards the limit.

Transferable Credit

During the semesters associated with COVID-19 (Spring 2020 through Summer 2021), UNC Asheville will evaluate pass/fail (or satisfactory/unsatisfactory) grades from any regionally accredited institution. Transfer credit will be awarded for a “pass” final grade. No transfer credit will be awarded for a “fail” final grade. Consistent with our current policy, if students choose to keep their letter grades, courses with a C or higher will be eligible for transfer credit.

Note: If the “Pass” grade course is a prerequisite for a required subsequent course, students should consider their readiness for that next course and consult with an advisor to determine the best path forward. Options may include repeating the pre-requisite course in an audit status or utilizing peer tutoring in the subsequent course.
