Dates and Deadlines for Graduating Seniors

Registrar's Office Checklist of Dates for May 2012 Graduation

If you are a prospective graduate and have not been receiving e-mails concerning graduation, please notify Alicia Shope, ashope@unca.edu. Reminders of the dates and deadlines presented here will be sent through e-mail.    

March 20

Grad Fair in room 417 of the Sherrill Center
(drop-in from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

  • Get your complimentary cap and gown for Commencement
    (MLA students should contact the Bookstore for information regarding regalia)
  • Verify pronunciation of your name
  • Order announcements and class rings
  • Learn about services offered by the Career Center
  • Become acquainted with the benefits of the Alumni Association
March 23

Grade changes for previous Incomplete (I) grades due. Please remind your instructors to submit any required grade changes to the Registrar's Office.   
April 20

Demonstration of Competency (Comps) results due in Registrar's Office from department chairs. Registrar's Office will request this information from the departments. 
April 27

Final grades for graduating seniors due from instructors by noon. Please remind them of this deadline. Official graduates will be notified once it's determined all requirements have been met.    
May 4

Rehearsal Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center for all graduates participating in Commencement. Rehearsal will immediately follow on the Quad. Latin Honors and Departmental Distinctions will be announced and the students individually recognized. Attendance at rehearsal is strongly recommended. Please make the necessary arrangements to be there.  
May 5

Commencement on Saturday at 9 a.m. on the Quad. A photograph of each graduate will be taken as his/her diploma is presented. The photographer will mail ordering information in late May.     

If you do not plan to participate in commencement, you must notify Alicia Shope by April 13.
